In the Kannagi series, the main character, Anandhi, is an orphan who lives with her aunt and uncle. She has no idea what her parents were like, nor does she know anything about her family history. Her only memories are of being raised by her aunt and uncle.
One day, Anandhi meets a man named Ramaiah at a temple. He tells her that he was once married to a woman named Kannagi.
He says that he loved her very much, but she died giving birth to his son.
Anandhi asks him why he never told anyone about her before now. He explains that he didn't think anyone would believe him because he had no proof. Anandhi promises to help him find out more about Kannagi.
The King's Daughter by Sivakami
The story begins when Anandhi goes to see Ramaiah at the temple. There, she learns that Kannagi was born into a wealthy family.
However, after her father died, her mother remarried a man named Raja. This caused tension between the two families. Eventually, Raja decided to leave the kingdom and take his wife and children with him. Kannagi's brother, Vellaiyan, became king instead.
After learning these facts, Anandhi realizes that she must go back home and tell her aunt and uncle everything.
